Yesterday I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to have my hair cut, dyed and styled at the Umberto Giannini hair salon in Harvey Nichols, Manchester. I’ve been considering getting it cut shorter and dyed back to brown for a few months now. It has just become too heavy to curl or and lacks volume. I’ve always wanted long hair with few layers and now I’ve finally got there, I’m not satisfied, typical girl! I jumped up at the chance at getting it done at Umberto Giannini and I’m so pleased with the result. After having a patch test at the weekend and getting a date for my diary, I went for the appointment after work yesterday and had an amazing experience.
The salon itself is absolutely beautiful, it’s open plan and has a table in the middle with magazines for inspiration or to keep you entertained whilst you’re waiting for your colour or treatment to finish. You can watch your colour get made at the bar too which is a nice touch as I’ve never done that in a salon before. If there is an event, there is also a champagne and canapés bar, it’s such a nice setting!
The salon manager, Ben, was my stylist, we sat down and talked about my colour and cut options that I had mentioned previously and decided that I wanted to go for the colour 7.13 as it was a tiny bit darker than my natural colour but not quite as warm. I originally wanted to get my side fringe cut back in as well as getting it a bit shorter but Ben suggested that I should get some of the weight cut out of it first and I’m so glad I did! I just want to be able to curl and style it more easily again without it looking so limp and flat!
After we had finished chatting and deciding all of my options, the dying process was started. It was washed off in the beautiful sinks and comfy chairs using the Umberto Giannini Calm Curls Shampoo and Conditioner, which smells divine! Ben then put the Volume Mousse on mixed with the Flirty Curls Scrunching Jelly, blow dried it and then curled it with some Cloud 9 straighteners (which I now really want!). To finish it all off, Smoothy Curls Anti-Frizz Serum and some hairspray were added and scrunched to help keep my beautiful soft curls in place.
I absolutely adore my new hair, it’s so soft and bouncy and curly which I love! I can’t wait to try styling it myself once I wash it. The salon was so nice and definitely somewhere I want to visit again, Ben was so friendly and chatty without making me feel awkward. He really knew what he was talking about, whether it was about hair or Umberto Giannini as a brand, you could tell he had an amazing passion for both. As a lovely little parting gift I was given a goody bag with the shampoo and conditioner, the mousse and the serum that was used which I wasn’t expecting! Such an amazing experience and a lovely way to get to know the brand more. Thanks Umberto Giannini!
