Monday was a relaxing day off; Leah and I went to Florida Mall briefly in the morning to shop around and to return a bag as it had broken. We were going to go to Blizzard Beach in the afternoon but we ended up getting back too late and it looked a bit stormy. We met Mari, Charlotte and Sam for Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios and I tried out a cake pop for the first time! It was red velvet cake covered in white chocolate, yummy but a little sickly by the last few bites!
One thing I’ve never done at Disney is have a day searching for characters. It was a bit of a miserable day so perfect for queuing up inside without feeling like we were missing out on things. I went with Leah, Jamie and Joey (who I work with) and had an amazing day in Magic Kingdom.
Donna, one of the girls from work, offered to take us to the International Food Store as she needed to get a few bits. I bought some British essentials that I found and it only came to about $15 so wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be. I happily ate some baked beans and cheese on toast, and honestly, it was the most amazing thing I’ve tasted whilst being here! I don’t even eat it very often at home but it was so beautiful!
After that we headed to the beach at the Polynesian Resort to watch a movie under the stars. Monsters Inc was playing and we laid out on the deck chairs in front of a big screen with some of our English goodies to munch on. They paused the film at 10pm as Wishes (Magic Kingdom’s firework display) could be seen across the lake. It was a really lovely night apart from being bitten by mosquitos, who knew that they could bite through jeans!!
Our days off between now and the time we finish are getting fewer by the day so Leah, Joe and I headed to Hollywood Studios before work to go on some rides. We also decided that we wanted to book the Wilderness Lodge for the night of our graduation as we’d never stayed in a Disney resort before. It ended up being ridiculously cheap for a deluxe hotel at $86 each which included the Disney Dining Plan (1 quick service meal, 1 full service meal, 1 snack and a resort refillable mug). The perfect mini vacation before our program comes to an end.
Leah and I went with Rhona to look round the Wilderness Lodge and we found out that we’d been upgraded to a Wood View room free of charge, even better! We were going to sunbathe but the sun went in so we decided to rent a boat and go on the Seven Seas Lagoon. It was so much fun!
Wandering round a craft shop later on, we decided to take photos with the letters of our first names! I need to go back at some point to get some bits for my scrap book I’m making once I’m back home and have post Florida blues.
After a lovely day we ended it spending the evening at Hooters. The food there is actually amazing and we’re going back on a Monday to get unlimited chicken wings and also so I can get a vest top as they hadn’t got any left in white. The cocktails were really good and not too badly priced, definitely recommend the Piña Colada!
