Getting Your Zzzs with The Leesa Mattress

I don’t know about you but I need a decent night’s sleep every night. If I don’t get at least seven undisturbed hours of kip on a comfy mattress, I’m grouchy as hell, surviving on coffee and have no motivation to go to the gym. As Curt and I are moving in together, we decided that we would prioritise buying a brand new bed and mattress. We’ve had our eyes on a bed for a while for our new place as it’s easy to add other furniture. I was approached by Leesa Sleep for a collaboration which was perfect timing. We have now been with our new mattress for just over a month and it has treated us incredibly well. Although this post is sponsored, please note that all of the opinions are my own.

Why the Leesa Mattress?

The mattress is made of three different layers of foam; Avena foam, memory foam and support foam. The top layer of Avena foam creates a cooling effect when sleeping. The memory foam contours to your body and relieves any pressure. Lastly, the bottom layer adds a bit of strength for a supportive sleep. I’ve slept on a similar style mattress before but it was nowhere near as comfy as the Leesa Mattress. I always wake up in the middle of the night and I can never get back to sleep. I barely have any issues with this now which is incredible!

The Leesa Mattress started out in the USA but now have a head office in Manchester and are manufactured in Glossop. Like a few other brands I’ve seen, they also offer a 100-night free trial. If you don’t have a great experience, they will give you a full refund and also pick your mattress back up. Mattresses are not cheap and are a bit of an investment considering how long you have them for. It’s amazing to know that if you don’t get on with it, you can return it, no questions asked.

Something else that I love about the brand is their pledge to give back to communities. If you decide to send your mattress back, they’ll donate it to a local charity or recycle it. They also donate a mattress for every ten sold to either a homeless charity, to victims of domestic abuse or human trafficking. Not only this, they plant a tree for every mattress sold. Comfy sleeping and a positive social and environmental impact. Kudos to Leesa Sleep. If only more companies were this way inclined!

My Experience with the Leesa Mattress

The mattress comes vacuum packed in a box that’s just over a metre in height. It was incredibly heavy and I had to get a hand putting it in my car after getting it delivered to work. We didn’t unpack it straight away as we were waiting for our new bed to be delivered. The night before our new Ikea bed arrived, we unwrapped the mattress as it needed to be left for twenty-four hours to fully expand. The instructions did say you can sleep on it after a few hours but we thought we’d leave it for the recommended time.

As soon as the Leesa mattress was on the bed, I just laid on it for about ten minutes. It was so comfy. We went off to buy new bedding and got it all set up for the night. To be completely honest, my first night’s sleep was a little strange. I did expect this though as I can never sleep well on a different mattress for the first couple of nights. After the third night or so, it was like a dream! I have never slept so well on anything before and it’s helped me to sleep all through the night.

I’d say it’s a medium-to-firm mattress. You don’t get completely swallowed up by it when you lie down and it gives you decent support. It adapts to the shape of your body and relieves any pressure points you might have. The cooling Avena foam meant that Curt and I didn’t get too hot during the night either. I love being wrapped up in a big thick duvet whereas, he doesn’t. The mattress did a great job at keeping us both at the temperatures we like.
