Review: Chanel Lumière Aqua Foundation

Review: Chanel Lumière Aqua Foundation

Review: Chanel Lumière Aqua Foundation 1I rarely tend to wear foundation, but as it’s been Winter, I have been to brighten up and even out my skin tone. I usually just stick with my high street L’Oreal Falliable Foundation but as I’d ran out, I decided I wanted to try a new, more ‘up-market’ foundation. After reading several reviews on the recently discontinued Chanel Pro Lumière, I didn’t know whether to go for the Perfection or Matte Lumière. Researching more and more I thought that the Vitalumière Aqua might be more suitable for me as it is lighter but still gives a brightening effect on the skin.

So off I went to the Chanel counter in Selfridges. I explained to the lovely Chanel make up artist that I didn’t want a thick foundation but that I wanted a light to medium coverage. She explained the Perfection Lumière and Vitalumière Aqua to me and put a bit of each on my hand so that I could feel and see the texture of each. I went for the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua in B20. I think the one thing that most impressed me was that the lady then cleansed my face and used different products, such as the Chanel Illuminating Base (which I am now thinking of buying!) and then applied my chosen foundation for me. I loved it instantly!

When applying at home, it looks just as good as it did when applied by a professional, which I can’t always achieve myself. It’s important to remember to shake the bottle before use because it is a rose water based foundation and separates. This is what makes it such a light but brightening foundation and smells lovely unlike many I have used before. It has an SPF of 15 also which is great for the Winter sun at the moment which has been fairly bright. You don’t need too much to apply a full face as it covers fairly easily, I use about a one centimetre lightly squeezed line across my hand and apply with a Natio foundation brush.

There are nine different shades available and it comes in a 30ml bottle which, on average, will last between 3 and 4 months with everyday use. If you’re looking for a light but effective foundation that lasts all day then I definitely recommend spending the £31 for bottle.
