Day-to-Night Make-up

I often find that I can be short of time when it comes to getting ready to go out for drinks, especially in the week after work. Over time, I’ve come up with a few foolproof ways to turn my daytime work look into something more glam for the evening so I thought I’d show you all a day-to-night make-up switch that I always use.

My general everyday look normally involves a base of foundation and blusher, a lick of black liquid eye liner and some mascara. When it comes to getting ready in a hurry, I’ve already done all the essential, apart from a touch up here and there. I also put my hair into a bun about an hour and a half before using an Invisibobble to create some curls without having to do anything.

The first thing I do is touch up any blemishes quickly of if I have particularly bad skin, I’ll just redo my T-zone area to give me a little bit more coverage. I’ll then add a slight contour to my cheek bones using Mac’s Matte Powder Blush in Harmony, with a little on my forehead and done the centre of my face too so that I have a little bit more colour. I’ll then finish my face off with a shimmery blush such as the NYX Blush in Summer Peach just to add a little more radiance to my look.

Next, I add a soft brown eyeshadow, normally I always reach for Buck from the Urban Decay Naked 1 palette as it’s fairly subtle and has a cool undertone. I just use a No7 Eye Colour Brush as it is thick enough to give a nice amount of colour when swept across my eyelids. I’ll then use the same brush to add some sparkle using the Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eyeshadow in Cement. The base colour is fairly translucent but it adds an absolutely gorgeous wash of shimmer onto your lids to make a simple look more glamourous. If I’ve got the time, I’ll also go over my liquid eyeliner and add a new layer of mascara.

To finish the look off, I’ll add a lipstick and take my hair down and pin each side back with a kirby grip and put a little serum through the ends to prevent frizz and make the curls look a bit more neat. And there you have it, a look to take your day time look to an evening look in about fifteen minutes. Nice and easy and just adds a little bit of sparkle to a simple everyday look.
