Review: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I think I’m pretty late to jump on the bandwagon with this one but I couldn’t find it for absolutely ages! Since getting my hands on it a week or so ago I have absolutely fallen in love with it, if not a little bit more than I did with Bioderma (review here) previously. Micellar cleansing waters are becoming more and more popular amongst brands now since the French skincare became a beauty cult buy. I’ve seen L’Oreal, Nivea, No7 and Sephora with their own version, I’ve only tried the latter two brands which were ok, but noting on Bioderma. However, the Garnier Micellar Water is just as good and works just as well as the Bioderma Crealine H20; the perfect dupe that’s now readily available in the UK.

Firstly, from a price point, it’s not bad at all. For £4.99 you get 400ml from Boots and at the moment it’s on offer so it’s £3.33, an even better bargain! After spending over £10 each time for 500ml of Bioderma, the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is gladly welcomed into my life with open arms. The bottle is fairly simple; clear plastic with a pink, flip-cap lid. It would be handy if they did smaller bottles for travelling but I haven’t seen any yet.

The formula is pretty much just like water; there’s no scent, a similar viscosity and it doesn’t leave any residue on your skin. The micellar particles claim to attract any dirt, such as make-up, therefore removing them from your skin when on a cotton pad. I use mine morning and night to freshen my face and in the evening I always use a cleanser as well as the water just to make sure everything is squeaky clean. It removes my make-up instantly and doesn’t leave any stickiness to my skin, I find these products baffling as they do it so easily. I haven’t tried using it with waterproof mascara but I have with a lip stain and they come off just as well. No scrubbing necessary.

I am really impressed with the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and can’t believe how similar it is to Bioderma. The price point attracts me the most; it’s such good value and so easy to get your hands on. If you have used any other micellar waters please let me know which ones so I can try it out too!
