Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation 1I first bought this about a month or so ago when there was a big hype around it. After reading a few reviews, I decided to buy it. Sadly, I was really disappointed and it ended up in one of my many beauty boxes. I decided to give it another go last week and I have to say, my opinion of it has completely changed and I absolutely love it! I’ve been using different moisturisers and primers lately so I’m putting it down to that. So now that my opinion’s changed, I thought I’d tell you all just why it has.

The foundation comes in a nice glass bottle with a luminous orange lid. It claims to be the ‘first foundation that visibly reawakens and illuminates skin with a radiant glow and a flawless, natural-looking finish. Instant anti-fatigue effect.’ Now these are pretty bold statements, but the formula does a damn good attempt in keeping these promises.

The colour I’ve been using is True Ivory (number 103). The formula is quite versatile, I’d say it in the medium spectre but you could use more or less depending on how much coverage you like to have. It has a little bit of shimmer through it, but nothing too glitzy. It doesn’t look glittery once on but does give a nice luminous finish for that radiant glow. As far as being an anti-fatigue foundation, it brightens the skin nicely giving you that ‘I’ve had 8 hours sleep’ look. It sits really nicely on my skin, nothing too overpowering and it sinks in quite nicely. The staying power is quite good too, won’t quite last a full 10 hours it claims but with a little fixing spray and primer, it does a pretty damn good job.

I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite foundation, I’ll always stick to my Chanel Lumière Aqua, but it’s a pretty good foundation if you’re looking for something new and with a high street price tag. If anyone has used the Rimmel Recover Foundation which has been discontinued, the effect it gives is fairly similar to this, however less shimmery.
