Whilst I was in Florida, I got a tattoo of Steamboat Willie on my ribs that I’ve wanted for a few years. The reason behind it is that Walt Disney once famously said that ‘it was all started by a mouse.’ He had dreams and failures and he wouldn’t have become the worldwide icon that he is today without that faith. After being back in the UK for a few weeks, I’ve had a lot of time to think about my future and the things that I want. I’ve finished university, have no ties and a lot of passion and drive to make something of myself. I’ve always strongly believed that if you want to get somewhere in life, then you have to work hard to get there. I decided to write this, not only to get what I’m doing out in the open but also because I love reading these types of posts myself on what others do when they’ve hit a bump in the road or things haven’t gone as smoothly as they had originally planned.
Ok, so finishing university with a 2:1, working for one of the best technology companies for almost three years and getting the chance to work at Disney World, Florida doesn’t automatically means I’m going to land an amazing job just like that. I’ve been looking at a few different areas of digital marketing; I love the social media side, analytics and SEO along with content. I’ve loved every aspect of writing a blog and reaching out to my followers, it’s been an outlet for me and has lead to me wanting to make a career in that field. After having a few knock-backs, I’ve found that the best way to motivate myself is by learning more that I can put into practice on Miss Danielle. I’ve been to a few meet and greets and also been speaking to others in this area in order to try and improve myself. I love seeing the results and have managed to get a few more interviews under my belt. I’ve started looking outside of my home town as I’d actually really like to move back up North and start a new life somewhere different.
Well, I haven’t really lost any motivation for my blog at all, I love writing and it’s become a lot easier to do with so much free time at the moment. I went for a coffee with my friend Jonny the other day and he suggested doing more YouTube videos now then I’ll be more confident keeping them up once I’m working again. There are so many ideas going through my head at the moment so will hopefully be getting started with them this weekend. I’ve been playing about more with where I advertise and even started using Google+ and AdWords which has helped out an incredible amount in getting my site known. I love seeing physical results and being able to measure how well something works. Watch this space and I should hopefully get some exciting new things up and running!!
Health and Fitness
Since being back, I’ve found it really hard to get back in the swing of going to the gym and keeping fit. It seems slightly silly signing up for a gym when I’d like to move elsewhere fairly soon but, I need to do something! I’ve been doing a little bit of running on the treadmill and also started the Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred again but it’s really not the same as being surrounded by other people in a class or with a good choice of machines. I’ve had enough of sitting around and have found a gym close by that has a few spinning, combat and pump classes which I shall be going to. From last Christmas to about March time, I went to the gym pretty much everyday and it was always these group sessions that gave me the motivation to go. I set myself little challenges to do in each session which helps loads, I even have competitions against others in my head!!
So this is what I’m focussing my life on at the moment. I’ve been given the gift of time so I’m going to try and make the most of it while I can. I’ve spent the last three years busy with university and work which lead me to dying for lazy days. Moving back home whilst I’m looking to start a career really has been a bit of a shock to the system for me! I have to keep my motivation up and keep in a routine. I’d love to hear what you do to stay motivated or what you’ve done in a similar situation. Please let me know in the comments, I love reading articles like this.
