What better way is there to relax after Download Festival than getting stuck back into another gig and stay over in Manchester? Curt and I got tickets to see Metallica just a few days after. He treated me to a surprise stay at Hotel Gotham, Manchester and it was incredible. I’ve always wanted to stay and so happy that I got the chance to.
Bell-staff offered to take our bags upon arrival but we declined. We didn’t really have much with us considering we were only staying one night. The reception was on the 6th floor which was strange to me. The lift took us up and the perfect theming completely amazed me, it was incredible.
The decor in the reception area is everything I want for my future house. Hotel Gotham feels a little bit Gatsby, a little bit ‘Sin City’; monochrome and moody with brass and gold highlights. Gorgeous mirrors hung from the walls and there were ornaments everywhere. Everything oozed luxury and plush and it certainly didn’t feel like we were in Manchester. I’d love an entrance way like this eventually that’s bright but with dark accents.
To the right of the reception was a gorgeous stairway which goes to a member’s only club called Club Brass. You can visit here whilst you’re a guest in the hotel but we didn’t have enough time. There’s also a dining room called Honey Restaurant which we didn’t get to eat in because we ordered room service instead. We did peak in here though and it was just as beautifully decorated as everywhere else with amazing views of Manchester.
The bedroom itself was breathtaking! I’d love my room at home to look like this with the tall ceilings, black and white carpets and leather header bed. There was a newspaper on the dressing table which was actually for the hotel. Each page had information that you would find in a welcome brochure. You could buy everything in the room if you wanted, although pricey. There was even a mobile phone that had a personal assistant on to take out in the city if you’re not familiar with Manchester. The wardrobe opened up to reveal the bar and a few extras like a Nespresso coffee machine.
The bathroom was a wet room with a huge shower area; one waterfall shower and another normal one with a seat around the edge. The soaps and hair products came on a fake gold bar and were all from The White Company.
We chose our breakfast from the menu that was inside the newspaper. I went for an Eggs Royale as I love smoked salmon with poached eggs. When it arrived, I’ll be honest, I was a little disappointed. Our breakfast was included luckily but the portion was fairly small. It only had one side of a muffin despite having two eggs.
I really want to go back and just enjoy the hotel. We were so busy and only in Manchester for just one night watching Metallica. If you ever get the opportunity to visit Hotel Gotham, I 100% recommend going! A unique and quirky place to stay, right in the heart of Manchester.
